About the beans
The Tumaco region has suffered for decades as a result of coca cultivation, trafficking and weak government policy. In the Consejo Las Varas area, small producers come to sell their cacao and the price paid depends on quality. The fruits must be well selected and fresh when they arrive at the fermentation centre. The Afromuvaras women’s association pays more for well-sorted cacao.
